Role type: Full-time · Function: Programming & Community · Location: TBD · Compensation: TBD
Role overview
The Programming & Community Lead owns the life of the space. This person designs and runs the calendar of events, programmes, and rituals, and builds a community where residents, members, and guests actually want to show up, contribute, and stay.
Core expectation: The space should feel alive every week — with programming people talk about and a community that keeps returning.
Key responsibilities
Programming
- Design and own a monthly and quarterly calendar of events, sessions, workshops, and rituals.
- Run events end to end: concept, curation, speakers, logistics, hosting, and wrap-up.
- Curate speakers, partners, and collaborators who raise the quality bar.
- Track attendance, feedback, and cost per event; double down on what works and cut what doesn't.
Community
- Be the face and first point of contact for residents, members, and regulars.
- Onboard new residents and members so they feel connected within their first week.
- Resolve friction early — conflicts, house rules, expectations, and belonging.
- Build and maintain community channels, directories, and rituals that create real connection.
- Spot and activate community members who can host, contribute, or lead.
Coordination and reporting
- Work with ops for space readiness, content for documentation and promotion, and sales for partner-led events.
- Maintain SOPs, run-of-show templates, vendor lists, and post-event reports.
- Report weekly on events run, attendance, engagement, and community health.
Ideal candidate
- Natural host — warm, energetic, and comfortable being the face in a room.
- Strong organiser who can run multiple events without dropping details.
- Creative curator with taste and a point of view on what is worth doing.
- Good judgement with people; handles conflict calmly and fairly.
- Experience in community building, events, hospitality, or campus/co-living programming preferred.
Success in this role
- A consistently full, high-quality event calendar.
- Growing attendance and repeat participation.
- Residents and members report a strong sense of belonging.
- Events are well documented and reusable, not rebuilt from scratch each time.
- Community becomes a reason people join and stay.
Suggested performance measures
- Number of events run per month vs planned.
- Attendance and repeat-attendance rates.
- Member/resident satisfaction and retention.
- Cost per event and partner-funded event share.
- Community-led events hosted by members.
Hiring assessment
- Design a one-month programming calendar for our space — what and why?
- An event has low turnout twice in a row. What do you change?
- Two residents are in conflict over shared space. How do you handle it?
- How would you get members to host their own sessions within 90 days?
